The foundation of mental balance

Finding balance in a fast-paced world is essential for our mental wellbeing. Being constantly ‘on’ can increase stress, reduce focus, and lead to burnout. Moments of pause—breathing, resting, slowing down—are not wasted time, but active choices that help the mind reset. The way we use technology matters too; our digital habits shape our attention, mood, and sense of clarity throughout the day.

Real stories, real change
In the film Pace – "Energise your mind”, Sophia from VELUX A/S explores this through the “Media with Intention” experiment. Over fourteen days, she set clearer boundaries around news, notifications, and screen use to take back control of her attention. Her story shows how less input can create more calm, focus, and presence in everyday life.

How to start today

Media with intention
Science shows that limiting media intake can reduce stress and improve emotional stability. Fewer interruptions can increase focus, memory, and deep thinking. Digital boundaries can also improve sleep quality and reduce anxiety caused by information overload.*

Try small changes in how you use screens to support focus, reduce overstimulation, and create more presence in your day.

  • Set two fixed 15-minute windows each day to check news or other media.

  • Avoid checking your phone before 8 A.M. and after 7 P.M.

  • Before opening news or social media, ask yourself: is this relevant, uplifting, or actionable?
